You know you have those cold wintry days where the last thing you want to worry about is what’s for dinner. You would be content to wrap up in a warm blanket reading a good book next to the fire. But because you are a responsible and caring adult, you decide that you will muster up your remaining strength and throw together a quick, healthy dinner for your family. Well, I have the perfect healthier chili recipe for you!
Believe it or not, chili is actually a healthy dish if you cook with the right kinds of healthy foods. So, add a little spice to your life tonight and enjoy this quick healthier chili recipe.

Healthy Chili Recipe
Grocery List for 4 Servings:
- Ground Turkey – $3 (1 pound)
- Onion (1) – $1
- Red Bell Pepper (1) – $1
- Diced tomatoes (2 cups) – $2
- Chicken Broth- (2 cups) $2
- *Optional: Kidney Beans- (2 cans; 15 oz) $2
- Olive Oil – 1 Tablespoon
- Garlic – 1 Tablespoon, Minced
- Chili Powder – 3 Teaspoons
- Ground Curry Powder – 2 Teaspoons
- Salt – 1 Teaspoon
- Black Pepper – 1 Teaspoon
Heat oil in skillet at medium-high heat.
Cook turkey and onion until browned, 4 to 5 minutes. Place in slow cooker.
Add bell pepper, garlic, chili powder, curry powder, salt, pepper, tomatoes, and broth. Stir. Cover.
Cook on low 4 to 6 hours.
*Optional: Add beans and cook on high, stirring occasionally, 1 more hour.
For those of us who procrastinate (me!), the same recipe can be modified for the stove top. Cooking the beef and onion as directed above, then adding the rest of the ingredients. Simmer with the lid on approximately 20 minutes and allow to cool prior to serving.
