Attempting healthy changes  without the proper resources can be difficult. What can and can’t you eat? And how much? Calorie counting is a fantastic way to keep track of what you eat throughout the day, and make sure you are keeping yourself on track and your portion sizes reasonable. Your diet is a bank account! A good rule of thumb to make sure you are eating the proper number of calories is to take the weight you hope to be, and add a zero. For example, if your optimum weight is 120 pounds, you should eat 1200 calories every day. Luckily, the internet has made it more convenient than ever to help you stay within your predetermined calorie goal. Here are some of the best resources out there:

CoachCalorie.com: Health and fitness articles similar to ExerciseMenu.com. A great resource.

DontEatDirt.com: Don’t Eat Dirt is about the idea that being healthy does NOT have to taste like dirt! A great site with awesome resources for eating without feeling punished.

Ingredientsinc.net: I must say, Alison Lewis does a bit of everything! If you have a health question, she probably knows the answer!

MyFitnessPal.com : On this site, you will find a community of fellow dieters that you can share your goals and struggles with. It also has one of the most comprehensive food databases on the internet, and allows you to keep track of your exercise goals. You also have the ability to determine what the calorie content of your favorite homemade recipe is! The best part: It’s all totally free. There’s even an iPhone app for counting calories on the go!

Of course, the Exercise Menu favorite is Dr. Gourmet.com. Here you can find recipes specific for your health condition. For example, if you are on coumadin, Dr. Gourmet.com provides recipes that are low in Vitamin K. Multiple apps are now available here too!
