The easiest, most practical tips to embed in your mind to lose weight and keep it off:

1. If you don’t have junk food in your house, chances are you won’t eat it. So… Don’t buy it… Duh.

2. Cut up fruit and veggies as soon as you buy them fresh. Put them in a container so they are health goalsready to eat when you can’t find the junk food you didn’t buy 🙂

3. Drink at least one half to one cup of water BEFORE you open the fridge or eat a meal. It’s okay to feel a little full before you eat. It will only help. Plus staying well hydrated will help you lose weight.

4. Rule for fixing plates: 1/2 fruits/veggies, 1/4 complex carbs (brown rice/pasta), 1/4 lean meat or legumes (beans, peas, etc). Use a saucer-sized plate and refill 20 minutes later if you are still hungry. Big plates are trouble…

5. Don’t drink your calories… AKA juice, sodas, sweet teas…. What a waste of “calorie cash.” Coffee with non-fat creamer and a little sugar, or unsweetened tea is okay. Use lemon to give your tea flavor…

6. Allow yourself one “freebie” per day. Just eat half of what you usually do and try to research a healthy alternative. For example, eat only half a bowl of ice cream and top with sunflower seeds instead of sprinkles…

7. Finally… Don’t feel punished. You are growing and maturing in your nutritional habits. Be proud and set a good example for your family and friends. We are faced with enough daily stress… Don’t let your physical health be one of them. This you can take control of!

8. Print this out and post it on your refrigerator.
